How to define your lips ?

Perfect looking lips

Most of us think that applying a lipstick is the easiest part of a makeup application… Maybe it is… if you are applying a lip gloss. Applying a really dark lipstick colors such as red, burgundy or dark pink need extra attention.

Here is the trick; First of all, we need to exfoliate. Get a soft tooth brush and put some lip balm and some brown sugar on it. Softly brush in circular motion.  But don’t do this application everyday. This might cause irritation and your lips can loose their natural moist.  It’s like shampooing your hair every single day. Our hair needs her own oil and moist, so it’s the same thing for our lips too.

Now you created a perfectly soft and moist base for your lips.  For a good result, i would suggest you to use a  lip primer first. But if you don’t have one you can use your foundation (especially for a darker lipsctick ) I would use a lip liner, should be matching with your lipstick. Not a dark brown liner for a pink lipstick please! :). Some woman used to do that in early 90′s… No more! :) Now it is all about simplicity and natural look. Fashion brings the natural look nowadays, that’s why your make up has to look balanced with each other. After applying your lip liner, now you are ready to apply your lipstick. I probably would apply with a lip brush to have a perfect line. Fill it in with your lipstick. Then with a concealer (one tone lighter than your foundation) create another line on the outer corner of your lips. This will define your lips very well. To bring some light on your lips , for highlighting and to define your lips more , i would apply some gold or silver  tone highlighter on my cupid bow (the double curve at the top edge of your upper lip called cupid bow). And for a fuller looking lip, i would use a shimmery highlighter on the mid part of my lips.

If you want your lisptick stay longer, i would suggest you to use a “lip lock”. (I’d suggest a good one. It is called “Lip Lock” by FACE Atelier)  It’s a lipstick sealer, and it works pretty good. The bad thing about lip lock, i don’t like that dry feeling on my lips when i wear it. Plus it peals off a little bit later… But at least the lipstick stays longer and your lipstick won’t bleed at all.
